About Me, the Extended Version

Showing off the sweatshirt I won from EntrepreneurDad.com*

I am Mitchell Allen, and I think up stuff.

I continually tap into the charged atomic cloud of Conscious Creation.

Whether for business or pleasure, I always look for what’s not there – and attempt to create it.

This is actually an obsession fueled by memories of my childhood.

While my father instilled in me a love for word play, deep thinking and mental puzzles, my Mother taught me to appreciate the pursuit of knowledge. Our house was filled with books, magazines and games.

I immersed myself into fictional worlds and fantastical futures. In so doing, my mental pathways became primed for (read “addicted to”) ever newer realms to explore.

As traditional childhood indulgences, such as chemistry sets and hobbits, gave way to time-shared computers and Dungeons and Dragons, so too did my mind gravitate toward more sophisticated stimulations.

I began to write.

I learned to program in BASIC.

Chess, Pinochle and Bridge joined Scrabble as part of my gaming staples.

This constant search for stimulation has lead to what seems a logical conclusion: I now must create the worlds that I wish to explore. This blog is my literary outlet, where I may lay down futuristic laws, promote a philosophy of simplification or simply marvel at the changes in the way the web and other systems work.

Morpho Board is my software platform for board game design. I dream of community-crafted expeditions into strange environments and whimsical scenarios.

MorphoGreetings.com, my greeting card business gives me a chance to rethink the concepts of relationship marketing. Dare I hope to provide a marketing medium that actually works without the smoke and mirrors of self-serving statistics?

I will follow my ABC’s: Always Be Creating!

*I’ve created a Biographical category that will contain more details than I need on this About page.
Here is one:

During a forum posting contest on Entrepreneurdad.com,

I got the idea to write a riveting, eight-part mini-biography.

Justin Powell, the site’s owner, enjoyed the series and kindly linked to it from his home page.

Now, for the first time on the web, I present the complete series in one place.

    • My life is like a box of chocolates…oh! You said, “wife”! Well, Charles, she’s like a Snickers bar – sweet on the outside, nutty on the inside and full of chewy conversation. When she’s not picking apart former Eagle’s QB Donovan McNabb, whom she uncharitably refers to as “Doonuffin McNuffin”, she’s ranting against the lack of a la carte cable service, or wondering why our kids don’t appreciate the important of our cultural history.

We spend a LOT of time discussing politics, religion and sex. Specifically, the prevalence of uninformed commentary in our media, the appropriateness of including the children in these discussions and what all of it has to do with the price of Uncle Ben’s and the supermarket.

Dinner discussion is lively, with the kids railing against my wife’s love for CNN, old Blondie movies and against my desire to watch the same DVDs over and and over and over. We recently bought a slew of DVDs from iOffer.com, but I continue to pop in Taxi (I love Queen Latifah), Speed and Crash (I love Sandra Bullock and don’t own “The Net”) and Last Holiday (did I already mention Queen Latifah?) Meanwhile, I’m ranting about our failure to eliminate HFC, MSG and BHT from our diets, while wolfing down two hotdogs slathered with Sweet Baby’rays Barbecue Sauce (original).

Somehow, I feel as if this is TMI and loaded with too many acronyms.

      LOL.

      Cheers,

      Mitch

    • Hi Brandon!
I’m glad you enjoyed checking out my blog. I made a promise to myself in 2006 – “No Rules”.
So, like your neologism, I follow inspiration.

      Thanks for stopping by!

      Cheers,

      Mitch

    • Ouch! Those blasted bricks. We’re definitely having fun:

Holly, I saw your WordPlay Category. I’m the same way. I want to provide some fun things on this blog. It’s tough, though, without a forum-like interaction.

      Cheers,

      Mitch

  2. Hi Mitchell!

It is great to hear how you were brought up. The environment created by parents influences a child’s growth so much. It is great that you always try to find out what’s not there and try to fix it. I have gone through some of your posts and found them to be amazing too. Thanks

  3. Mitchell, I have to say, I love your writing style. I came across the blog a couple of weeks ago, and I’m addicted. As somebody who’s just started out blogging, It’s helpful to read blogs like this and learn how you engage with your audience.
