First time I have felt the need to post a comment here. Are you looking for a blog that truly has a conversation going on or just to hear what you have to say. Yes spammers hurt all blogs but closing comments off to quickly also stops the good conversation. Two weeks should give folks plenty of time to give their opinion on any post. As if my say matters.

It’s a tough decision, especially if you’re just starting.
My only advice is, before turning off comments, check to see how much spam you get PER real comment.
I only recently started trying to fight back when my ratio hit 30 to 1.
