CLE Presentation

I worked at the Philadelphia Police Department for 17 years. I had the pleasure of heading up the elite Latent Print Section for the last eight of those years.

In 2000, and again in 2001, I was called upon by the District Attorney’s Office to present to a group of attorneys during their mandatory Continuing Legal Education tribulations.

Though I had a captive audience, I tried to make the presentation as interesting as possible. I even asked the forensic experts to prepare a huge blowup of a latent fingerprint, matched with the print of a known suspect.

Here, in PDF format, is the District Attorney’s CLE Presentation (minus the giant fingerprint display.)

Latent Fingerprint Training Class Presentation

The Philadelphia Police Department has an FBI-certified Fingerprint Identification and Classification Trainer. During the midway point in the course, I would visit the class and give my “stern” lecture about the responsibilities of providing expert testimony in court. Having done my fair share of sweating on the witness stand (yes, I testified at several homicide trials), I wanted to impress upon our trainees the seriousness of the matter.

Here, in PDF format, is the Court Testimony Training Presentation.
